Saab and JOB AIR Technic have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation.
Swedish defense company Saab has announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with JOB AIR Technic, one of the regional leaders in aircraft maintenance. With the signed documents, Saab can transfer knowledge in the field of fighter aircraft maintenance and train JOB AIR Technic employees in this area.
The first joint project will focus on the training and education of JOB AIR Technic technicians. They will work at various Saab locations and production facilities in Sweden, expanding their knowledge and skills, particularly in supersonic fighter maintenance.
“Saab remains committed to extensive industrial cooperation in its customers' countries. We believe that the continued operation of the Gripen C/D aircraft, followed by a smooth transition to the Gripen E/F platform, is the most effective way to ensure the operational and economic future of the solution for the Czech Republic. air force insurance. We see the collaboration with JOB AIR Technic as an opportunity to expand our partner base in the country and share knowledge with the Czech Republic as part of our long-term strategy," said Saab.
"For JOB AIR Technic, the possible partnership with Saab to celebrate our 30th anniversary is a symbolic return to our roots. JOB AIR Technic has serviced small civil aircraft, including the Saab 340, from the very beginning. It is great that the brand, even in the form of unique and unparalleled Gripen aircraft, is with us after so many years.Although we mainly focus on civil aircraft maintenance, we also strive for maximum flexibility and diversity.Vladimír Stulančák, CEO of JOB AIR Technic said developing the state-of-the-art Gripen aircraft was a great challenge for us and another step forward in the scope and quality of the services we offer.
The Gripen C/D, currently operated by the Czech Air Force, was developed for easy maneuverability and high combat effectiveness. The new Gripen E follows the same philosophy. Both platforms require minimal maintenance compared to their competitors, which can also largely be done domestically. This significantly reduces the Gripen's life cycle costs, which are 50% lower than the competition.
JOB AIR Technic's aircraft maintenance facility includes two hangars that can accommodate eight single-aisle aircraft such as the Airbus A320 or Boeing 737. The company has been a member of the Czechoslovak group since 2016, starting in early 2020. Their hangar handles more than a hundred aircraft annually, mainly for major maintenance, the specialty of JOB AIR Technic. The company is also licensed to service Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and has maintenance certificates for wide-body Airbus A330 aircraft. Its customers include major leasing companies and airlines. The company employs more than 400 employees. It was established in 1993 as a maintenance center for aircraft of LET and subsequently SAAB 340. JOB AIR Technic a.s. is an EASA/FAA Part 145 Authorized Maintenance Organization and an EASA Part 147 Approved Training Provider.
